2006-06-10 Hiking and Camping at Cohutta Wilderness

This was my first wildnerness hike wearing Nike Free shoes. These shoes make you feel one with land and water. A friend from work and I hiked about 12 miles over two days. The second day of the hike included 21 crossings of the Jacks River in addition to several small streams. Despite the 30-pound backpack througout, the shoes felt comfortable dry or wet, on land or in water.

    The island we camped on provided some nice views.
    The other side of the island. It was big enough to find a spot to cook our food a safe distance away from the tents. Didn't want hungry bears to drop by for a midnight snack. The island we camped on provided some nice views.
    After cooking some tasty beans with onions, peppers and bacon for dinner the night before, the next morning we boiled some eggs for breakfast.
