Rajiv  > 2006 > 2006-06-10 Hiking and Camping at Cohutta Wilderness
This was my first wildnerness hike wearing Nike Free shoes. These shoes make you feel one with land and water. A friend from work and I hiked about 12 miles over two days. The second day of the hike included 21 crossings of the Jacks River in addition to several small streams. Despite the 30-pound backpack througout, the shoes felt comfortable dry or wet, on land or in water.

Rajiv > Harald, a colleague at work, who is here on a project from his company in Norway, planned this trip. We asked a few other coworkers to come along, but didn't get any volunteers for this trip.
Rajiv > The knife may not be of use during a bear encounter, but is sure handy to cut wood and food.
Rajiv > Approaching the first stream another friend at work, Daniel, had told us about.
Rajiv > I got off the car to take photographs while Harald crossed the stream with the car.

Rajiv > The second stream of water on the rood is deeper than the first one. Daniel had told us if we couldn't cross the streams, there was a place to park nearby and we'd have an extra mile to walk.
